I’ve been wanting to go on a weekend?getaway for quite some time now, but now that we have Bennett, its hard to travel too far from him or even find a babysitter when the weekend rolls around. Being a Georgia native, I feel like there aren’t too many places around here that I haven’t visited or seen. One place that I have been?dying to check out, is?Ch?teau ?lan Winery and Resort.??When I attended the University of Georgia millions of years ago, I remember I used to always see signs for?the winery?on my long ride back home. I always wanted to visit, but never had the?chance to until recently.

Ch?teau ?lan Winery and Resort is a quick 45 minute drive from downtown Atlanta and is located in Braselton, GA. ?Once you pull through the Resort entrance, you drive up a large hill that cascades a beautiful scenery of the vineyyard, the golf course and even some old stables that used to be used on the property. Waiting for you at the top of the hill is the winery itself, surrounded by a gorgeous landscape, ?fountain and vineyard vines galore.

When we arrived at Ch?teau ?lan, we had a wine tour and tasting scheduled (the last one of?the day!) that began at 6:00pm and lasted about an hour. The tour included an in depth look at the wine making process itself, along with the history of the resort. The timing was perfect, because once we were finished, we were able to grab a glass of wine, go outside and enjoy the sun setting around the property. The winery has outdoor tables on a patio and also a fire pit area that is surrounded by adirondack chairs. It was so relaxing to walk around the property with a delicious glass of wine and really take in the phenomenal views. We did the 8 glass wine tasting and it really gave us the opportunity to sample all of the different wines that they had to offer. My favorite wine was a white wine called the?Moscato D’Asti D.O.C.G.

After our wine tour and tasting, we headed back to the hotel to change for dinner. We then made our way over to Paddy’s Irish Pub. The pub doesn’t require reservations and it also has live music on Friday nights that starts around 8:00 that we were excited about. The pub serves authentic Irish food and drinks and all of the furnishings and fixtures inside the pub were actually brought over from Ireland! For dinner I had the Salmon, but my favorite item was one of the appetizers, the Steak Boxty and it was delicious!

The rooms at Chateau Elan were also very impressive. The rooms are decorated to mimic a French country estate with embroidered linens and a luxurious pillow top mattress that was a dream to sleep on! ?If you saw my InstaStory?during my stay, you would have seen my favorite room feature, the oversized tub and separate shower! Our room overlooked the pool (more about the pool later!) and offered some more gorgeous views of the property itself.

The next morning we made our way down to the lobby area and had brunch at the restaurant, Versailles. They had a breakfast buffet that was to die for. They had an omelette station where you could create your own omelette ?or even watch a chef cook you ?homemade Belgium waffles right on the griddle! The spread there was amazing and we left feeling extra stuffed.

After brunch, we spent the rest of the day by the pool. ?We enjoyed some poolside cocktails (the special of the day was this amazing “Pinky Swear” frozen drink) from Le Soleil Pool Bar. The pool bar also offers light snacks and refreshments, but we were so full?from our brunch, we didn’t get a chance to try any of their food. Next to the pool is a large hot tub that is accented by a gorgeous cascading stone waterfall. On the other side of the hot tub is a fireside patio with lounge seating. I didn’t know about this area until our last day, but next time I come to?Ch?teau ?lan, Im going to grab a glass of wine and make my way to the hot tub and fireplace area!
