Since having Bennett and working full-time, getting to the gym doesn’t happen that often for me anymore. Once I stopped breastfeeding after Bennett turned one, I actually dropped a few pounds. Even though I lost a few pounds, I was still looking to lose a few more. I decided to start with my diet and decided to give the Whole 30 Diet a try. I like that the Whole 30 diet is based on eating meats, fruits, vegetables and plenty of good fats.  I didn’t have time to read the book, so I tried to skim the pages and understand the general rules of the diet itself. I ended up making it for the entire 30 days and felt great afterwards!  I lost a few pounds and felt really good during my 30 days, once I figured out what to eat. Here is a breakdown of what my typical day looked like:

Breakfast: 2 fried eggs in coconut oil, cubed sweet potatoes and a whole avocado, coffee with coconut milk

Snack: Blackberry Chia Pudding with Coconut and Pistachios

Lunch: I usually made a chopped salad with “piles.” The piles were usually diced turkey or boiled eggs, chopped carrots, chopped beets, chopped cucumbers, chopped apples and raw cashews. I would drizzle olive oil and balsamic vinegar over all of this.

Snack: English cucumbers (the small pickling ones) rolled up with turkey and a spoonful of guacamole, a piece of fruit.

Dinner: Typically a protein, a vegetable and a salad of some kind. One option I had often was chicken sausage, broccoli and a beet and avocado salad.

Dessert: A banana split in half (lengthwise) with unsweetened almond butter spread on top.  I also would freeze bananas and puree them with almond butter in a food processor until it had an “ice cream” type consistency.

Along with changing my diet, I tried to get out and be active when I could. I would go on walks, ride my bike or even do hot yoga when my schedule allowed. One thing that I look for in my activewear clothing is the fit and how they make me feel while wearing them. I love how these leggings and top help suck me in and make me feel confident while wearing them.
